During each YAS session, each players
inherent ability, potential and playing experience is measured in comparison to their
development and contributions during the session. Expectations vary from
player to player.
The players listed below were noted for their personal skills
development and contributions during their respective YAS 2004 sessions.
Each received a YAS 2004 Silver and Green Saskatchewan Medallion,
the top YAS award.
|
Each player who
finishes
in first place during one or
more of tournaments during
each YAS weekly session or
at the North-South Ironman Tournament Championship is awarded a YAS Championship Pennant.
YAS tournaments are held every afternoon and all day Friday. Every player plays equally and under the same kind pressure they would experience during regular winter season games.
The North-South Ironman Tournament is held
on the second last weekend of August.
Players
who won YAS 2004 Tournament Champion Pennants are listed below. The
title or abbreviations for the actual tournaments they won are listed
behind their names. |
YAS emphasizes
the proper nutrition and the physical fitness needed by players to meet
the rigorous demands of basketball.
YAS
2004 Developmental
Senior sessions players had the option of a 2 km or 3km or 4km or 5km
run/jog/walk carrying a basketball run each Tues., Wed.,
and Thurs. morning of their session.
Listed in alphabetical order below by surname is the best time for the
longest timed run each player completed.
|
During each
weekly session of YAS, every player's shooting skill is
rigorously analyzed and perfected.
Each Bantam and Senior player is entered in formal Pressure
Treys
(3 point shooting) and
Hot Shot Tournaments which emphasize shot quickness and accuracy under
pressure.
Listed below are the top Pressure Treys scores and Hot Shot scores of 60 or higher during YAS 2004.
A complete list of all-time YAS Hot Shot top scores dating from 1983 is included elsewhere on this
web site.
|
Each player who graduates from a
YAS session during five or more summers
(not necessarily consecutive
summers) receives
a personalized plaque which notes the number of summers they
have
graduated
from YAS.
Plaque
recipients during YAS 2004 sessions are listed below:
During each weekly session,
each instructional group of senior and bantam players play one game of
Pure Pressure Inarow in which they attempt to score 50 or more consecutive
pass-fed lay ups in a row.
A player who misses is eliminated
and the remaining players start again. The goal of 50 layups in a row must be
accomplished within 45 minutes. |
